A rare part!
The AMR1280 is a multifunction electronic module (MFU – Multi-Function Unit), mainly fitted to the Land Rover Discovery 1 and certain Range Rover Classic models.
What does the AMR1280 do? It acts, in a sense, as a control unit for several electrical body functions. It replaces several separate relays and timers and is responsible, in particular, for:
💡 Interior lighting: delay and fade-out. 🚿 Rear windscreen wiper/washer and certain delay functions.
🚨 Alarm and safety-related functions.
🔊 Horn.
❄️ Control of the air conditioning compressor clutch.
🌡️ Time delays for certain electrical equipment.
🔄 Control of various functions operated by pulses rather than by a conventional relay.
On the Discovery 1, the unit is located behind the passenger compartment fuse box, accessible by removing the glove box. Please note if this is for your Discovery 1: the AMR1280 is for older models. It was subsequently replaced by the AMR5360 on later Discovery 1 models, but the two are not simply interchangeable: the functions and the interface with certain electrical systems have changed.
