LT76 gearbox number location

The gearbox number can be on the gearbox or on the transfer case.
The Serie 1 and the Serie 2 early have the number on the gearbox.
The vast majority of Serie 2 / 2A and all Serie 3 have the number on the transfer case.

It happens that the number is refrapped by crosses (letter X) and is therefore illegible. This is usually the case when the gearbox and transfer have already been repaired and parts of another suffix have been added to the gearbox. This means "do not rely on the number of the original gearbox". The task becomes very complicated to order replacement parts because you can not trust the number.
